VENICE TREACLE
Venice Treacle join the LASH Sunday line up!
Venice Treacle play a groove-enhanced quirk punk, which some- times disintegrates into deranged disco.
This is quank.
Right-angled riffs and rapturous rhythms combine with lyrics that confront the End of the World (and ice worms) head on. Named after the world’s first branded pharmaceutical, VT strives to provide an antidote to the modern crazy. Guitars clash, beautiful harmonies appear and disappear, a groove emerges, and it will not let you go.

Who are These People?
Raised on a diet of no wave, post-punk and indie, Nick Oil and Mondel Plasmid started playing together in the 90s, gigging Camden as the fiercely unique Penelope Quiche. Time ticked, the world got stranger and the urge to respond grew. In 2024, Ritalian and K-Boy joined up to give a rhythm section like taught elastic. Venice Treacle the band was born.

The Influence
Life has scattered the band across the Southwest: Bristol, Exeter and Cornwall. Inspired by The Jesus and Mary Chain, C86, Sonic Youth, Prolapse, Captain Beefheart, Can and said to sound like Squid, Talking Heads, and ‘Heston Blumenthal doing Wishbone Ash’, VT have played classic venues like The Exchange, The Cornish Bank, Exeter Phoenix, and festivals Valley Fest and Glastonbury Calling.
